BEEF
We are now able to offer you the same ALL NATURAL, QUALITY meat as our pork, but now grass fed Beef.
The program is basically the same as the pigs, you purchase an animal from us, we raise it here on our farm and you pay us a small monthly fee to cover feed and labor costs involved.
A pig takes only 6 months to raise to a good market weight. A steer (a male cow) takes anywhere from 18 months to 2 years to raise.
You would still be paying, overall, about $2.00 to $2.50 per pound when you’re all said and done. Blaine gets 90 cents per pound LIVE weight and that is usually about $720.00– $1,400.00 for the WHOLE animal. The animal should weigh between 800 and 1500 pounds for a good market weight. The amount of beef for your freezer from that size animal would range from 480 pounds to 800 pounds.
We still deliver the animal to a local butcher FREE OF CHARGE and you are responsible for the processing costs the butcher will charge. They are still between 30 and 45 cents per pound and might cost you about $300 to $400 total.
We currently have 5 ready to adopt and another 5 being available at a later date. You may pay in full at any time (and Blaine might give you a better price if you do) but most customers pay by the month. If you choose to to this, we would set up an account for you and you could pay monthly with cash, check or debit/credit cards. The next ones that will be ready for market will be about July/August 2011. We will help you with figuring what size or how much beef you would like, the total amount you would be paying on and then the number of months until it is market ready. The longer the time, the smaller the payment.
Since it takes 18 to 24 months to raise the animal, and you decide what size animal you’d like (small, medium, or large) your amount you pay each month depends on the total amount due and the length of time you choose to pay for it. The butcher gets paid when he is done packaging your meat. You still have TOTAL CONTROL over how you want the meat processed and packaged.
If you decide to share or split the animal with family or friends, you share the cost as well. We only need 1 family or contact person if you choose to adopt one.
If we haven’t answered all your questions here, feel free to contact us anytime via email or phone. We’ll be happy to help you.

Hi I am in Erie and am interested in buying a cow or steer, and possibly a pig are there any available? The person we normally get our meat from has stopped raising them.
Thanks!

The next steers that will be ready will be July/August 2011. We will have more pigs available later this summer to adopt. We have 14 sows, so we will have plenty available, they just are not due to deliver as of yet.
