Feeder Pigs/Pork
If you are looking for feeder pigs or organic quality pork for your freezer, we have what you need. We sell quite a few pigs in the spring to the local 4H youth who raise them to show in the local fairs. We are offering them on a first come, first serve basis, so if you want 1 or 2 to raise or have us raise them for your freezer, contact us so you won’t miss out.
If you can raise the animals yourself, we usually have some weaned feeders that are ready. If you are looking for All Natural and Organic Quality pork for your freezer and cannot raise the animal yourself, we have a new program that seems to be working out rather well. You would purchase a 6 week old (or larger, if available) animal from us, and we raise it here on the farm for you. When it is ready to be butchered, we will deliver it to a local butcher shop FREE OF CHARGE. Usually a pig takes between 4 and 6 months to raise to a good market weight of 200-250 pounds. This would give you about 100-150 pounds of pork. The animals are only given local feed and we supplement that with produce from our chemical free garden. We NEVER give the animals any growth hormones to encourage it to grow faster.
If you are interested in the program, please call us anytime with questions you might have. To help us with the feed and care costs, we ask a small monthly fee to cover our costs involved. Of course, you can pay in full at anytime as well. After the animal is delivered to your choice of butcher, the only cost you would have is to the butcher for processing. Recently we lost 2 of our shops, that went out of business–LeBoeuf Meats in Waterford, and Walter’s Meats on Rt 8 .
We will be trying out McDonald Meats in Girard, Hungry Run Processing in Union City and possibly Boyd’s Custom Processing in North East.
The choice of butcher is always yours. We prefer delivering the animals within a 25-30 mile area from Waterford if at all possible.
